Ingredients
  

Spices Mix

  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp ground coriander
  • 1 pinch cinamin

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice (1 squeezed lemon)
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup, honey or agave

Toppings

  • lettuce
  • tomato
  • cucumber
  • red onion
  • fresh parsley

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl combine the spice mix
  • In another bowl whisk together the sauce
  • Heat a large skillet on medium-high heat with 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Add the mushrooms to the pan, and cook until mushrooms start to shrink (about 4 minutes). Season the mushrooms with some of the seasoning mix and flip the mushrooms. Cook until all the water from the mushrooms has evaporated, or about another 4 minutes.
  • Remove mushrooms from the skillet and generously season both sides with the seasoning mix.
  • Optional: skewer the mushrooms using metal or wooden skewers to more closely mimic the shawarma cooking methods.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit
