Ingredients
Spices Mix
- 1 tsp salt
- 1.5 tsp black pepper
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp ground coriander
- 1 pinch cinamin
Sauce
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 3 tbsp lemon juice (1 squeezed lemon)
- 3 tbsp maple syrup, honey or agave
Toppings
- lettuce
- tomato
- cucumber
- red onion
- fresh parsley
Instructions
- In a small bowl combine the spice mix
- In another bowl whisk together the sauce
- Heat a large skillet on medium-high heat with 1 tbsp olive oil
- Add the mushrooms to the pan, and cook until mushrooms start to shrink (about 4 minutes). Season the mushrooms with some of the seasoning mix and flip the mushrooms. Cook until all the water from the mushrooms has evaporated, or about another 4 minutes.
- Remove mushrooms from the skillet and generously season both sides with the seasoning mix.
- Optional: skewer the mushrooms using metal or wooden skewers to more closely mimic the shawarma cooking methods.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit
